Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Ancient Temples, Ancient Awesomeness
Angkor Wat, located near Siem Reap in Cambodia is the largest religious monument on the planet. It was first a Hindu temple, but is now Buddhist. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors. Angkor Wat has become a major tourist destination, and rightfully so. In 2004 and 2005, government figures suggest that, between 561,000 and 677,000 visitors arrived to Siem Reap province
Vistiing Angkor Wat is not something that can be done in a single day. Or even two days. The massive nature of temple complex is such that sometimes it takes driving up to 90 min via car or tuk tuk to reach an outlying temple.
The first time I came here, I got the 2 day pass. Then extended for one more day. The second time I came, I got three days, and extended to four. Next time? I’m getting the full week pass 😀 Angkor Wat is stunning, and is one of my most absolute favorite places ever! 😀
Not only is the Angkor temple complex incredible, but the Cambodian people are amazing. Phenomenally kind, sweet, genuine, and pure.
Angkor Wat + Siem Reap + Cambodia = Highly recommended!! 🙂
